The Triumph of Agriculture Exposition established the Annual “Agri-Award” as part of Nebraska’s Centennial Celebration, in 1976 to recognize outstanding organizations and individuals that have contributed to the Agricultural Development in the Midwestern area. This year’s winners are Terry Twiestmeyer, Owner of Twiestmeyer & Associates and John Fonda, President of John Day Company (John’s father Jere Fonda received the award in 1996). They will receive their awards on Thursday, March 4th at 9:00 am at the Show.
TERRY TWIESTMEYER - TWIESTMEYER & ASSOCIATES
Terry Twiestmeyer, owner, has a background of farming and sales. In the mid-seventies while very involved in farming and ranching a need developed for a universal pick-up hitch. Thus was born the “twist-hitch” which was patented and marketed by Terry and introduced him to the concept of multi-line marketing. By using independent manufacturers reps and observing the value they derived from their trade organization AIMRA, “Agricultural & Industrial Manufacturers Representatives Association”, Terry joined, became active and has served as president.
JOHN FONDA - JOHN DAY COMPANY
John D. Fonda currently is President, CEO of the John Day Company. John is the second in his family to receive the Agri-Award. His father Jere W. Fonda was presented his in 1996. The John Day Company has been a Leading Midwest Distributor of Agricultural, Industrial, Safety and Material Handling Supplies for over 100 years. The John Day Company remains a family-owned business, with John Fonda being the 4th generation serving some 30+ years working in all aspects of the company. John is active in community and national organizations, EMDA-Equipment Marketing & Distribution Association, (Formerly FEWA), Knights of Aksarben, Safety & Health Council of Greater Omaha and serves on many advisory and industry committees.
