.......The Greater Omaha Sports Committee is proud to announce the 2011/2012 Fall Scholar Athlete Award Winners. Eight High School Seniors, three boys, five girls, representing eight different area High Schools were honored for not only their contributions on the field but their academic accomplishments in the class room. Students of this caliber are “The Cream of the Crop” says Jo Dusatko (Greater Omaha Sports Committee sub-committee chair), “it goes with out saying these kids are why we love to coach and teach. It isn’t a surprise when we see these students excel in life, they are all too often natural born leaders and end up CEO’s, Dr.’s, Lawyers and Civic Leaders in the Community.” This Year’s recipients’ are for Football ~ Daniel Feickert - Elkhorn High School , Volleyball ~ Marissa Johnson – Burke High School, Tennis ~ Jacob Lehr - Westside High School, Softball ~ Taylor Erlenbusch – Millard South High School & Erin McGonigal - Skutt Catholic High School, Cross Country Girls ~ Shannen Ramey – Fort Calhoun High School, Cross Country Boys ~ Marshal Anderson – Papillion LaVista High School and Golf ~ Marie McNamara - Marian High School.

     For more than twenty years the Greater Omaha Sports Committee has honored the Outstanding Scholar Athlete of that particular Sport and for the Year in the Omaha Metro Area. These students are judged not only for their accomplishments on the field but for their scholastic achievements in the class room. This Fall’s recipients were Outstanding and many participated in other Varsity Sports. Because, these recipients cannot be nominated in another Sport they will not be eligible to win in another Sport. However, many of them will be entered into the 2011/2012 Most Outstanding Scholar Athlete awarded in June to One Boy and Girl.
